When Creativity Takes Control

I am writing this three days before the Muse Online Writers’ Conference is set to begin. I’m feeling both energized, excited, and even stressed. This conference is a weeklong affair with multiple live one-hour chats and weeklong drop in forums. Mass of word loving people all sharing, coaching, encouraging, and buzzing with creativity.

Talk about a rush!

This is what happens when you’re with a group of people who share your passion…you can’t help but be swept up and do what you do. And this week I’ll be smack in the middle of word lovers. Those who write them, edit them, publish them, and buy them.

I can’t wait!

But, don’t wait till you have a conference or group around you to let creativity take control. Oh no, let go and be crazy. Allow your Creative Muse take control.

We’re making craft pumpkins at a craft supply store…or made by the time you’re reading this. We’ve made spoon people. In a week or so, we’ll be learning to make beaded jewelry…something I want hubby to learn because there are few items I wouldn’t mind for Xmas. Halloween T-shirts later in the month.

Does Halloween decorations count as creating? The house is a tad wild. Or what about my inspiration wall? It’s right in front of me semi-filled with photos I’ve taken of nature that just grabbed my attention, sure a few were taken by the hubby and we argue over one or two…pssst, I did take that one, the one he says he took.

Which is another area that I go wild with…photos. Good thing I have a digital camera. I don’t need to have the photos printed, I just load them onto computer or iPod or PDA…okay some I’ve printed and I still need to scan a few from the old camera. My photos are driven by my mood, my imagination. That tree trunk is a home for mini trolls or was it leprechauns? That flower, well it isn’t a flower is a secret alien world within a normal flower. The rush of the waterfall. The secrets within the elephant’s eye. Yes, when I take photos, I go crazy.

Where does your creativity take control?
