Does your muse have a name

Does Your Muse Have A Name

A question came up the other day – who is your muse? That’s when it clicked.

No wonder I can’t get rid of my annoying character, Derrick. This goof has been tripping inside my head for 20 years now. He never really goes away, takes mini vacations and keeps coming back. I do want him gone…I think.

Then it clicked. Derrick has been one of my muses. He wants his story told. He demands his story. I haven’t known how. I might know how, now…maybe.

I have a quieter muse. He prefers sending engraved invitations reminding me of his story. He is quite dignified. His archenemy lurks in the shadows, throwing rocks to get my attention. At times, he, too, is my muse.

I must admit there are my split personalities. The ladies who stumble into adventures I only dream about. Each a different part of who I am or wish I was, but all some part of the deeper me. Now, that wasn’t too hard to admit.

I even have writing spirits. They float around my thoughts, waiting. They tug a little, pull a little, and never ever leave.

Wait, something new summons me.

  1. Chris, what can I say. You are definetely one of a kind. As long as you have Muses annoying and motivating and confusing and keep you moving forward, who cares if they’ve got names.

Just don’t tell anyone you know me. 🙂

  2. Hi Chris,

Welcome to the blogging world! My muses come to me a little different than yours do. I can picture them running around & that nagging feeling of "I gotta write that down" never leaves until I do. Love the template. It's the same one I have! Ha-ha!

  3. Hi Chris,

Your split personality/cross-genre muse sounds intriguing! I don’t hear voices when it comes to my muse, but I do find my mind wandering to my own little world at times. It’s okay, though, because everybody likes me there!

Looking forward to hearing more about where your muse is leading you.

  4. Chris,
Nigel is my most vocal muse. He wakes me at ungodly hours of the night with ideas and won’t let me go back to sleep until I write them down. He also visits me while driving, which I’m sure has frightened more than one fellow driver out on the roads. I mean…if I get a good enough idea from him, I’m going to write it down. That’s why I keep a pad of paper and several pens in my car. 🙂
I’m pleased to see another writer with the same issues. It helps prove we’re all going insane together. Mwuahahahahahaha.
