Stories from my window…sleepless nights

It’s easier to sleep with the blinds partway open. Easier to rest when you can see the world outside, in the darkness. Easier to tell which light is what…street, car, or emergency. Easier to see the signpost for what it is and not some ghostly shape.

It’s easier to block the world out when the blinds are shut tight. Easier to hide. Easier to cry. Easier to wallow.

Easier to sleep except on sleepless nights when all you remember is what you no longer have. What will no longer…is no longer.
