Stories from my window…who says you need light to write

It’s 7:54pm in October and the light is gone. The sky is overcast in ink with only car and outdoor lights flickering depending on the movements between them and me.

The temperature today tried to trick us into believing we were still in summer, maybe late spring, either way windows were opened and the cool warmth felt invigorating. Not enough to go wild and fall clean the backyard, but enough to not feel closed in and locked away.

I’ve turned the TV sound to mute, but the reflection of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 proves it’s still on. October, the horror movie month. When was the last time a movie really scared me? Not gross me out or freak or jump scared, but made me question a closed door, a creak in the middle of the night. What was the last suspense murder mystery movie? Time to write the story I want to read? Probably. Will I? I want to, but the “but” will have to wait.

That’s enough rambles for tonight, maybe I’ll find an old Harlequin book to read…yeah, I bought a few e-books a few years ago. My thinking is, maybe these will keep me away from scrolling through those AI drama shorts that I can’t seem to stop watching. Dopamine or escape from the pressures of paperwork from mom’s death…who knows.

Time to go read.
