Roaming Ideas: Dreaming

original work by C Steeves-Speakman

AFTER ALL IT’S ONLY A DREAM

Far away in a land that only exists in the minds of the young and free lies a valley in which our story takes place.  The setting is quite beautiful.  The sky is a true blue that brightens each day with its clearness.  The air is crisp but warm with only a magical breeze of sweetness.  The colours of the rainbow are painted everywhere.  The greens are not darkened with the soil of dried dirt but are rich with moisture that mysteriously waters the peace.  The flowers open up to show their strength within their delicate petals.  The air is filled with the richness of song even when no birds are about. Everything is perfect, but isn’t it always when one dreams.

Our story starts where every story starts, in the calmness of a child’s head as the sandman does his duty.  The eyes grow heavy and the day’s worries leave, the mind opens to freedom.  Freedom from parents, teachers, friends and the neighbourhood bully.  A tiny bird almost life Peter Pan’s Tinker Bell, soars down from the shadows and sweeps you up into your own dreamworld.

Now you’re there.  In a place that nothing wrong can or ever will happen.  You fight the dragon and save the day.  You fly a plane.  You run as fast and as far as you like.  You’re a mother or a father.  Your only friends are the animals from the zoo.  You can be anything.  You can do anything.  The world is yours.  This world belongs to the dreamers.  And as we all know anyone can dream.
