Reader: Blurbs

Sorry for missing you last week. Life has its way of shocking you into what’s real and what’s important. And for that, Thank You for being out there.

Back to what each section of your book’s package attracts me – The Blurb.

Almost reads like the blob (good movie BTW, the original that is) those words on the back cover meant to tell me the story, but not the whole story. Not enough to spoil surprises, but enough surprises to make me want to know more.

A vicious circle runaround to tell me everything and nothing.

Too short and it’s more a string of taglines. Too much and the reader moves on – too little time to read something so long…attention span and all that.

And yet Blurbs are probably the main pull to look further into your book. The truth is I want all the bits and bobs above. I want to be taken on a mini story ride and teased. I want the grab and pull. I want to relate to what you say is between the covers. I want the adventure you’re promising. And I want that moment of – no way, the author’s not serious?

Yup, those I love.
