Scrolling through social media I admire friends’ holiday pics. The clear skies. Crystal blue waters. The mountains and lakes. The holiday peace. I have a photo folder of nature’s beauty. Images I’ve taken to relax and daydream and for inspiration.
Why then today do I think – but what about the home view? The view out our windows that we live with each day. The one we return to after the holiday escape.
Do we appreciate the home view more or wish we were still away?
No, I’m not saying or implying those who holiday don’t enjoy or love being at home. We all enjoy time away and seeing new views. Time away from the reality of life that home also represents.
I’m simply wondering about the view we see each day. The one that tells us we are home. Do we value what is right in front of us or is it ignored for the one we run to and only visit?
I don’t know how many times I’ve sat working at this window staring out at these same trees. Taken near countless photos of them as I see something different each time. Knowing that those I share these pics with may only see the same thing over and over again.
Even now I need to take new pics – the morning sun is doing something slightly different on the winter branches.
Never stop sharing your escape views. Enjoy them; love them.
