Indulges – Fave TV Show: Mission Impossible, the original

Tom Cruise ruined this show.

There I’ve said it. I don’t care how successful these movies have been. How much money they made. These movies are not mission impossible.

Peter Graves. Greg Morris. Barbara Bain. Peter Lupus. Martin Landau. Can’t forget Leonard Nimoy, Lynda Day George, and Steven Hill.

From 1966-1973 this was my show. All right, maybe not every early year and maybe parts were repeats, given I was only three when the show started. But, this is my favourite.

It had action and intelligence. They were spies and they weren’t all the same…male, female, abilities. They worked together and showed me that we all have our own strengths that no one else has.

Plus the opening was neat. Who didn’t want the self-destructing tape? Or wear those face masks.

The family joke is how I used to pronounce the show – I had problems with my S’s.

Mi-en Impobowl.

Heck I can’t even spell it, maybe I did watch this at age three.

All I know is with every show I wanted to be part of it. I wanted to be Spock’s sister travelling through space, more human than Vulcan, driving him nutty. Here, I wanted to be Mr. Phelps’ daughter, taking my place in their missions.

It wasn’t just books that inspired me to write.
