One comment I see quite often privately and in submissions is how the manuscript has either been professionally edited and ready for publication or already edited from previous publisher. Why then do we need to edit it?
It’s our reputation on the line, let alone:
1…unethical to use another publisher’s work.
2…some who submit have lied, sad but true.
3…edits how been below our standards.
I’ve said it time and time again, no one is perfect. However, I’m not a person to just slap my name on something without doing the work. Even working with manuscripts that have had no edits other than chapter style headings, I still read each and every word of every manuscript I edit.
