Indulges – Reflections: Passing by

I’m thinking the phrase ships passing in the night is a little too real. We do pass each other without a look, thought, or even knowledge. However, every ship leaves a ripple on the surface and we leave a ripple on others as well.

Sometimes these ripples impact us deeper than those who bank against our hearts. They move us because we made choices to stop or continue. Because we find something inside that connects and connections with a stranger, near stranger, are frightening.

What could we possibly have in common with someone so different than us? Someone who lives outside our safety, comfort zone. Someone whose life makes little sense to what we understand.

There’s another phrase here for a short time that rings more true right now than in the past. Not only are we alive for such a short time, people will walk through and past our lives as we need them. Some for our lifetime. Some for that proverbial short time.

Time is not a measure of their impact.

Their impact only we can measure and understand…accept.

We leave our mark on others as much as others leave theirs…if only we remain aware.
