Reviewer: What’s that name

Am I talking your name or your character’s name? Probably both.

The problem with being a book lover and turning that into reviewing is at some point everyone gets muddled together. Sorry, that’s the honest truth for today.

I’ve finally reached the reality that I can’t remember every book I’ve read. Maybe that’s a good thing considering how many re-new-published books I’m seeing. And before you go yelling at me, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I understand life and business happens. I also have some pretty strong friendships with authors who keep me updated on changes.

But I’ve also seen books redone with new titles but same story and without any clue that I might just have already read it. Hard to know what the author means by that packaging.

The one thing I would ask is for clearer author name. Some fonts make reading your name an eye battle – one I don’t want.

Character name? Let’s just say there’s something very true about not naming characters with similar names or starting with same letters. Recently an author remarked on keeping track of what names she’s used in her series so nothing gets confusing between her different series.

Names are important. No one wants to be forgotten or think their characters could ever get lost in the infinity of books out there. But it happens.

The trick is to write your voice which stand out against all others. From there I’ll remember your name.
