Reader Time: eBook or Paper

me comfy

Tell me about both. Give me the option of choosing which one I want to purchase.

Today my daughter and I thought about reading the same book. Not one on our eReaders, but one she bought as a paperback. I went to the library online and, nope, sadly, the only copy they had was an audiobook. Looks like I’ll be reading this book after she finishes.

Or we’ll be reading an eBook we both have copies of.

For this reason I love eBooks over paper.

Do I still love paper books? Honestly, I’m surprising myself as I type this…not so much. I like my non-fiction paperbacks, the ones which fall under the meditation umbrella for me. But for fiction reading, I lean toward my eReader.

I do enjoy a paperback copy. Have received a few for review reading and, yes, they feel good. Yes, paperback books have a weight, scent, and general feel that is comforting. However, I’ve yet to get a paper cut from my eBooks.

When going out I am rarely without a book, notebook, pen, music players, oh, just a bunch of numerous items I can never decide one way or the other on. And deciding on which book has seen me carrying up to three paper books, even a hardcover (or two). No wonder I can never get down to a cute little purse versus the mega bag.

What does all this mean for you, the writer who wants me as your consumer? If you have options…give them to me. Let me know about the eBook versions, the print, even the audio (although, I’m not good with audio, I fall asleep)

I know I’ve talked about Kindle versus other electronics, but this is about every option.

I keep hearing authors talk…print, print, print. People I know outside of the writing industry have made comments about how an eBook isn’t a real book. Or…when will your book be in print?

Please don’t get caught up in the battle of print over electronic. Let us readers decide which one we want…please.
