Poet/Artist: Comfortable

When did I become comfortable referring to myself as a Poet – an Artist? Every day.

Each day I am more comfortable with these aspects of who I am. I am a Poet. I am an Artist. There’s nothing in those statements that say I’m good at it. That I’m making money from it. And I am not comparing myself to anyone.

I’ve heard the arguments of when “we” have the right to call ourselves writers – artists – poets. And that’s when we’re paid for it. Before that it’s just a hobby, having fun. Sorry, everyone starts off the same. And from that moment we need to declare who we are.

Get it into our minds we are Poets and Artists and each time we show up we improve. We grow. And the first growth is recognizing who we are.

Get comfortable.
